    Lot of 2:
    1)  The Virginia Fire and Marine Insurance Company of Richmond, Virginia. Stock issued February 4, 1898 at Richmond, Virginia. Chartered in 1832 in the State of Virginia. Embossed company seal lower left, with state seal of Virginia in center. Certificate No. 3491 was issued to Mary W. Triplett for 15 shares of capital stock ( per share). Company capital was 0,000. Hand signed by company president William H. Palmer and secretary W. H. McCarthy. Certificate is about 7” x 11.” Black print.. Vignettes with sailing ship on rough seas (lower left), and small superimposed company initials “VF&MCo” (bottom center).
    2)  Virginia Fire and Marine Insurance Company. Stock issued February 21, 1912 at Richmond, Virginia. Chartered in 1832 in the State of Virginia. Embossed company seal lower left, with state seal of Virginia in center. Certificate No. 4458 was issued to Fred E. Nolting for 10 shares of capital stock ( per share). Company capital was 0,000. Hand signed by company president William H. Palmer and secretary W. H. McCarthy. Certificate is about 6.5” x 10.” Black print. Vignettes with partially robed woman wearing feathered headdress next to flag and shield with ship left, and train right (top center), sailing ship on rough seas (lower left), and small dog and chest-safe (bottom center).
    The Virginia Fire and Marine Insurance Company was chartered in 1832 as the Virginia Marine Insurance Company with a capital of 0,00 to issue shipping and marine cargo insurance policies. The company was rechartered in 1840 as the Virginia Fire and Marine Insurance Company to also issue fire insurance, with an increased capital of 0,000.
