Vintage Marshall Field & Company 28 Shop Black Velvet Beaded Passementerie Jacket
This vintage Marshall Field & Company 28 Shop black velvet beaded passementerie jacket dates from the 1940s. It is made of a black velvet fabric with passementerie raised black braiding soutache work and black beaded accents. This elegant evening jacket has a fitted tailored style with a peplum skirted bottom, beaded trim collar fold over lapel, shoulder padding, long sleeves, black velvet button closures on the front (bottom one is missing) and is fully lined in a pink silk taffeta fabric with a "Marshall Field & Company 28 Shop" label sewn inside. The exclusive 28 Shop was one of the first in store boutique shops in the U.S. offering high end clothing from many of the best designers. The jacket measures 22 inches long, with a 40 inch chest, 30 inch waist, 20 inch long sleeve and 16 inch back. It is in excellent condition. This is truly a wonderful piece of wearable art!
