Description
Own a piece of history! A fringed leather jacket from the 1940's, made for a petite woman, but could be used by children, or would make a super decorative western-themed piece. It was manufactured by Smith and Chandler Indian Traders, West Yellowstone Montana, and Las Vegas, Nevada. The Yellowstone store opened in 1925, and is still in business. I purchased the jacket 50 years later at an auction of western memorabilia in Scottsdale, AZ, in 1991 or 1992; the original auction ticket description is attached. The overall condition is good, the main issue being the lining attached at the collar has disintegrated, just above the tag. Otherwise, minimal wear for it's age, and the leather is in good condition. It's a soft, supple leather, maybe deerskin.
The actual measurements are as follows:
Pit to pit: 17 inches across
Shoulder to shoulder: 14 1/4 inches across
Length: 22 inches from top at back, to end of rear hem, 24 inches to end of fringes
Sleeves: 22 1/2 inches from shoulder seam to end of cuff; 30 1/2 inches overall
Arm/sleeve width: 6 1/4 inches across at bicep
