VALENTINA SCHLEE BLK SILK FAILLE OVER DRESS COAT
COLLECTORS!! Rarest VALENTINA SCHLEE Vintage Black Grosgrain/Faille Textured Silk Over Dress/Evening Coat!!

This ribbed faille textured overdress/coat is tailored with a rounded Peter Pan Collar, nipped waist with a defined back waist seam, vertical princess seaming on the front, and a mid back vertical seam that dissects the back waist seam, large front angled & draped patch pockets, and a single antique faceted glass button closure on a braided button loop. (this button has some embossed markings on the reverse; it appears to be marked oris and some initials that I believe read B.G.E.)The inside edge of the glass button is slightly chipped, but this cannot be detected from the front.The lightweight garment is unlined, and shows the entire hand-stitched interior, consisting of hand stitched/overcast seam edges, hand stitched pockets, and hem. Only the main seams appear machine finished.
My estimate of the era of this rare piece comes from a garment in the VALENTINA book I've pictured in the listing. There is a late 30s/40s dress with the same collar.
Size Small.
Measurements are taken on garment exterior, supposedly meant to fit somewhat loosely over a gown or day dress:
Bust: 34-35"
Waist: 28"
Hips: approximately 40"
Sleeve Length: (with 1.5" turned up cuff) 23"
Nape of Neck to Back Waist Seam: 18.5"
Nape of Neck to Hem Length: 43:
Shoulders across upper back: 15"
Very Good to Excellent Vintage Pre-owned Condition!There is a b.b. size hole on the front Peter Pan Collar (See Pics); also a smaller tiny nip in the underside of the collar, and a small one in the lower skirting.
There are 4,1" seam separations; easily mended with a few stitches!The right sleeve end hem has come undone, also easy fix!In a few places on the faille textured garment, you can detect faint 'construction' lines (see the picture of the hole in collar!)
I am leaving this collectible garment in it's 'as found' condition, so the collector/buyer can
study/inspect the construction.If you would like these minor seams repaired upon purchase, just holler and I will be happy to accommodate!More pictures available upon message request!(Some pictures have been lightened to show detail.Also keep in mind that some pictures will show the fine ribbing/faille detail of the garment in an over-pixelated state.
