Magna 10-E/ER Shopsmith Model Power Tool Restoration - 150 Pages of  Manuals on 10E-10ER-Jointer-Jigsaw- , Operations Guides, Repair Parts Lists, Accessories, Installation Sheets, Shop Notes, Shavings and a treasure chest of other tool data.
In 1947, the Magna Engineering Model 10-E Shopsmith was introduced. This multi-function woodworking machine with a small, space-saving footprint -- 55 inches long and 21 inches wide that converts into five main woodworking tools – Wood Turning Lathe, Circular Saw w/Tilting Table, table Vertical Drill Press, Disc Sander and Horizontal Boring Machine turned the woodworking world upside down.
Today, these10-E (Experimental) and 10-ER (Experimental Revised) tools are prized possessions of anyone that can find them. Because they were sold between 1947 and around 1957 many of these machines have been relegated to barns, sheds, garages, and basements where power tool lovers find them covered in rust. They eagerly buy them up at auctions, barn, and garage sales.
Hence, the reason for this comprehensive Magna Power Tool Restoration Guide, created from the original product guides, instruction sheets, accessory catalogs, newsletters, which are vital for those seeking to restore, and use the most revolutionary power woodworking tool ever invented.
Around 300,000 of these power tools were sold to returning servicemen and anyone interested in doing woodworking as a hobby, for profit, or just to take care of his home.
These amazing machines are engineered to operate in both horizontal and vertical positions, using a single motor and table. This is a huge benefit because the exact settings are transferred from one tool set up to another. This accounts for the precision that engineer types feel they can only achieve on single purpose tools.
In the first five years on the market, from 1947 to 1952, 600 Montgomery-Ward stores demonstrated and sold about 100,000 units. During that same time Magna decided the most productive and easiest to reach target audience would be the returning servicemen and the American Homeowner wanting to become woodworkers and handymen.
The best way to reach this audience was thru direct demonstrations at fairs, hardware stores, power tool dealers, and anyplace else they could draw a crowd. It is estimated another 200,000 units were sold at these venues. This is a concept the current owner -- RLF Brands --- uses to go to market. If you are lucky enough to find one of these 300,000 power tools and plan a restoration the information you find in this 150 Pages 8"x10" book will be invaluable.
