Late 1800's Beaded and Crochet Black Vintage Cape Handmade

This is a stunning original vintage ladies cape from the late 1800's, probably after the Civil War and pre-Victorian. It is hand made and decorated heavily with bead work and crochet. It has two long flaps down the front which I am assuming you would use to tie the cape together at the bottom? It closes together with 4 hooks and clasps. Looks like there should be two more - one at the very top of the neck and one at the bottom. The cape measures  15" from shoulder to shoulder when closed. 15" from shoulder to hem. The drops in front are 17" long. The crocheted sleeves are 13" long. The chest is 34". The back is beautifully done - artful seams and wonderful bead work to accent the crochet work. Some beads are missing here and there but really not noticeable unless you are really looking. A great cape that is ready to wear or display - no unpleasant smell and no major flaws. Gorgeous!
