Antique 1880s Ladies Jacket Black Display Piece

Still going through my grandmother’s old clothes box.
Jacket only,
I can’t find the skirt.
This jacket has a built-in blouse front with a tie to tie around your waist to keep the blouse front in place.
Jacket has hooks and eyes.
The wearer can open the jacket and it looks like you have on a blouse.
I don’t see holes, but I do see stains. It’s certainly not clean.
My great grandmother was born after the Civil War.
This must have been her jacket.
Of course, it was made by hand.
It's perfect for display.
It’s black so another black skirt would work to make an outfit.
Definitely high button shoes.
In taking the photos, I discovered the back is shorter than the front.
My husband said maybe a maternity jacket.
The ability to expand the tie on the blouse front makes me think he might be right.
As you increased in tummy size, the back of the jacket would be about the same length as the front.
The last photo shows what the back looks like.
I put white paper under the jacket to show the back.
It’s very interesting.
I don't think this is  wearable.  It's so old. It's a true antique.  It's great for display.
